Lady Oilers thrash Alief Elsik 15-0

PEARLAND — Playing softball teams from Alief ISD is no challenge in District 23-6A which hurts a team that is trying to get some competition in preparation for the playoffs at the end of the regular season.

There are four teams in 23-6A that will challenge one another in Pearland, Dawson, Brazoswood, and George Ranch.

The three Alief schools (Elsik, Hastings, Taylor) present no challenge whatsoever as they get run-ruled almost every district game.

Such was the case when the Lady Oilers went only four innings to blank the Elsik Lady Rams 15-0 giving them a 3-0 district mark.

Pearland pounded out 17 hits and 15 runs in four innings while senior pitcher Alyssa Fort pitched three innings giving up no runs and no hits to get the win.

Hailey Foster pitched one inning for Pearland and allowed only one hit and no runs.

Pearland scored three runs in the first frame, one run in the second, and then broke the game open with nine runs in the third and a pair in the fourth to end the game 15-0 due to the mercy-rule.

Leading hitters for Pearland include: Fort (3-for-3, 4 RBIs), Rylie Martin (3-for-3, 3 runs, one RBI), Maddison Guillen (3-for-3, one run, three RBIs), Bridgett Verchiens (2-for-3, one run, two RBIs), Kayla Gonzalez (2-for-2, one run, two RBIs), and Gabby Davila (1-for-2, two runs, one RBI).
