Pearland run rules Strake Jesuit 15-5


PEARLAND — The Pearland diamondmen closed out the Strake Jesuit Crusaders 15-5 in five innings to improve to 4-0 in District 23-6A.

The Oilers opened up district with a 16-0 win over Alief Taylor, a 12-7 win over Dawson, and a 19-0 win over Alief Elsik to remain tied with George Ranch for the top spot in the league standings.

Entering the fourth inning with game tied 4-4, the Oilers broke the game wide open with 11 runs to make the score 15-4.

Strake scored a run in the top of the fifth, but the 10-run mercy went into effect ending the game at the end of five frames.

Matt Adams went the distance for Pearland on the hill, striking out five while allowing five hits and four earned runs.

Shawn Huber went 2-for-4 with four runs batted in; Cole Smajstrla went 2-for-2 with three RBIs; and Adam Vackar went 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs. Smajstrla and Vackar each had two doubles.

The win improved Pearland (11-7-1) to 4-0 in District 23-6A.
