Lady Oilers continue to power past district opponents

PEARLAND — The Pearland Lady Oilers outscored their league opponents 26-0 last week as the Lady O's beat Pasadena (16-0) and South Houston (11-0). The game against Pasadena was stopped after only three innings and the South Houston contest ended after five frames due to the mercy-rule against both teams.

Pearland remains tied for the league lead at 10-1 with Alvin. The two teams will meet on Friday, April 10 at Pearland at 7:00 p.m. The winner will most likely capture the District 22-6A title. The Lady Oilers beat Alvin 2-1 in the first round.

The Lady Oilers fell to Dobie in the opening round, but avenged that loss 2-0 to maintain a tie with Alvin. The Lady Yellowjackets beat Dobie in the first round, but the Lady Longhorns lost to Pearland last week to fall to third place behind Pearland and Alvin.

Pearland 16 - Pasadena 0

Pearland pounded Pasadena for 24 hits while Alyssa Denham, Adrianna Chavarria and Victoria Stoddard combined for a three-inning no-hitter in the Lady Oilers’ 16-0 win.

The victory in the District 22-6A matchup improved Pearland to 9-1 in league play and 14-6 overall.

Lindsey Stewart, Kaylee Buck, Sydney McKay, Aileen Garcia, Megan Hiers, Lauren Shepherd and Taylor Holtkamp all collected two hits each.

Alexa Montemayor, Kristen Terry, Kaylee Hoppens, Sydney Gutierrez, Madeline Myers, Janna Roberts, Natalie Romeo, Ashlynn Walls, Vivian Nino and Madison Clements all got one hit in the hitting parade.

Pearland 11 - South Houston 0

In another mercy-rule contest, Pearland blanked South Houston 11-0 in five innings.

Alyssa Denham pitched four innings and struck out eight while Adrianna Chavarria pitched an inning of relief, fanning two

Brittany Sockwell went 2-for-3 with five runs batted in and Megan Hiers went 2-for-2 with an RBI. Ashlynn Walls also had two hits for Pearland while Aileen Garcia stroked a double.
