Pearland got the 2-1 win thanks in large part to Brady Basso's dominant 15-strikeout performance. Basso gave up just two hits over eight shutout innings.

The two teams battled to a scoreless tie until the top of the ninth when Jacob Whitehead walked to get on base in the ninth. He went from first to third on an error.

Cody Williams pushed the Oilers ahead in the ninth as Pearland scored two runs including a run scoring single by Josh Barfield. Williams had two of the Oilers' four hits.

Basso struck out 15 batters in eight innings of work, but couldn’t get any run support.

Mason Van Noort relieved for two-thirds of an inning before Jaron Roblyer came on to record a strikeout to end the game.

Pearland is now 22-5 overall and 13-2 in district. Alvin leads the district with a 13-1 record.
