Manvel 3, Friendswood 2

The Friendswood Lady Mustangs fell just short against Manvel by the scores of 21-25, 23-25, 25-16, 25-21 and 9-15.

Top performers for Friendswood were Sarah Sitton (19 kills), Cierra Pesak (14 kills, 17 digs), Kate Bueche (nine kills, 17 digs), Meghan Donoughue (seven kills, four aces), Andi Vaught (18 digs) and Megan Hubbard (52 assists, nine digs).

The Lady Mustangs will be looking to rebound on Tuesday (late) at Baytown Sterling.

Friendswood 3, Baytown Lee 0

The Friendswood Lady Mustangs took care of business on the road Wednesday, dispatching Baytown Lee by the scores of 25-16, 25-12 and 25-13.

The Lady Mustangs were led by Sarah Sitton (10 kills), Meghan Donoughue (seven kills, 13 assists, four aces), Andi Vaught (12 digs) and Megan Hubbard (22 assists).

Pearland 3 - Alvin 0

Pearland beat Alvin in the District 23-6A opener for both teams. The Lady Oilers swept the Lady Yellowjackets 25-13, 25-16, 27-25.RDeBorde added 10.

The Lady Oilers were led by Jordan Maeker and Madie Whitehead who had 10 kills each while Dani Hufnagel had 15 assists as well as Jenna Gray who had 11 and Reagan DeBorde added 10.

Reagan Dement had eight digs while Maeker and Maddison McClure had six each.


Dawson 3 - Shadow Creek 0

The Dawson Lady Eagles, who are ranked No. 4 in the state among Class 6A schools, improved to 28-4 on the season and 3-0 in District 23-6A with sweeps over Alief Hastings, Shadow Creek, and Alief Taylor.

The Lady Eagles took out Shadow Creek, who was expected to give Dawson a challenge, 25-6, 25-12, 25-16, in convincing fashion.

Leading the way for Dawson was Ava Kennon (10 kills), Bryce Ranney (7 kills), Alana Torres (7 kills), and Sydney Alexander (6 kills).

Torres had 13 digs, while Patience Lewis and Carter Galley each had eight digs.

Kamryn Scroggins had 26 assists.
