Pearland Lady Oilers

The No. 6 state-ranked Pearland Lady Oilers captured the District 22-6A championship for the second consecutive year and only need to beat the Manvel Lady Mavericks at home on Friday, October 30 to go undefeated in league play at 16-0.

The Lady O's took care of business last week with two district wins over Sam Rayburn and Pasadena Memorial.

Pearland beat Rayburn 25-9, 25-13, 25-7 to improve to 32-7 and 14-0 in district.

Brooke Botkin led the charge with 16 kills while Riley Murdock and Hannah Ofczarzak both added five apiece.

Sam Costello had two blocks while Sam Demmon and Riley Murdock had 1.5 each.

Caroline Shecterle had 24 assists. Amanda Chapa had nine digs and Kailey Laitkep had six.

Pearland defeats Pasadena Memorial

Pearland defeated Pasadena Memorial 25-8, 25-6, 25-8.

Sam Costello led the offense with 12 kills followed by Brooke Botkin with 11, Hannah Ofczarzak with nine, and Sarah Wright with eight.

Caroline Shecterle had 38 assists. Amanda Chapa had 14 digs while Brooke Botkin added nine.

Sam Costello had 2.5 blocks

Pearland is now 33-7 overall and 15-0 in district. The win was No. 776 for Pearland head coach John Turner.

Friendswood Lady Mustangs

The Friendswood Lady Mustangs lost to the Clear Lake Lady Falcons 25-18, 24-26, 25-18, 21-25 and 7-15 in a five-set match.

Friendswood's Shannon Murphy led the team in kills and digs with 27 kills and 24 digs. Sarah Thomas led in assists with 50.

Friendswood defeats Dickinson

The Friendswood Lady Mustangs beat the Dickinson Lady Gators 25-13, 25-15 and 25-11.

Shannon Murphy led Friendswood with 13 kills, while McKenna Fridye chipped in 10 kills and three blocks. Sarah Thomas had 35 assists.

The Lady Mustangs are trying to keep their playoff hopes alive as they are 6-7 in district.
