PEARLAND — Pearland quarterback J.D. Head shares the moment with his family when he signed his letter-of-intent to continue his playing career and education for Louisiana Tech University.
Head came to Pearland last year from Oklahoma and immediately made an impact for the Oilers by leading them to a 10-1 record while setting three team records.
In 2018, Head was 170-of-277 passing for 2,468 yards that included 25 touchdowns and six interceptions while gaining 165 yards rushing on 35 carries and one score as the Oilers finished 8-3.
The field general set three new PHS passing records previously held by former Pearland All-State quarterback Trey Anderson who led the Oilers to a 5A Division I state title in 2010.
Head now owns the records for most passing yards in a single-game (357), single-game touchdown passes (6), and most touchdown passes in a season (25).
In 2019, Head was 99-of-163 passing for 1,676 yards and 16 TDs.
In his two years at the control of the Pearland offense, the signal-caller was 269-of-440 passing for 4,144 yards with 41 TDs and 7 INTs.
