Manvel 59 - Dawson 34

The Manvel Lady Mavericks remained undefeated in District 22-6A action after defeating the Dawson Lady Eagles 59-34.

Manvel won the 2014 Class 5A state title last year and are certainly the team to beat in league play though they lost some key players off their state championship team.

The Lady Mavs wasted little time in establishing their dominance in the opening period outscoring Dawson 19-7 in the first quarter. The game settled down in the second period as Dawson stayed close at 8-7 leaving Manvel with a 27-14 lead at intermission.

Manvel doubled the scoring in the third 16-8 and cruised in the fourth 16-12 for the 59-34 victory to remain perfect in district with a 6-0 mark and 15-7 overall.

Dawson is now 10-9 overall and 4-2 in district.

Maddie Powers led the Lady Eagles on offense with 11 points including 3-for-3 at the free throw line. Ivy Smith added eight points including two 3-pointers.

Pearland 55 - Alvin 25

The Pearland Lady Oilers improved their District 22-6 record to 5-1 with a solid 55-25 win over the Alvin Lady Yellowjackets.

Jasmine Butler continues to lead the offense as she scored 16 points while Emir Nichols added 15.

Pearland scored 14 points in the opening period while limiting Alvin to a single basket for a 14-2 lead.

The Lady O's added 17 more in the second quarter while the Lady Jackets improved to eight points leaving Pearland with a comfortable 31-10 advantage at halftime.

Pearland continue to stay in control of the game in the second half with a 12-7 third quarter and a 12-8 fourth frame to claim the 55-25 victory.
