Maly, Lockhart named All-State by Texas Sports Writers

PEARLAND — Pearland's Caleb Maly and Friendswood's Lael Lockhart were named to the All-State first-team by the Texas Sports Writers Association. This is a tremendous honor for both players.

Maly was named as a utility outfielder and Lockhart was selected at first base.

Maly had an outstanding season. Maly was the top hitter for Pearland with a .455 batting average which included four doubles, 12 RBIs, 32 runs scored, and 30 stolen bases.

Senior pitcher/first baseman Lockhart also earned a spot as a first baseman on the THSBCA Class 6A All-Star All-State team. Lockhart maintained a gaudy .464 batting average this season with 21 RBIs and a .598 on-base percentage.

As a pitcher, Lockhart was solid this season, as well. He posted a 6-2 record with a 2.42 earned run average and 60 strikeouts in 37 2/3 innings.
