Shadow Creek rolls past Alief Elsik 63-7

SHADOW CREEK — The Shadow Creek offense and defense were firing on all cylinders as the Sharks swarmed the 6A Alief Elsik Rams 63-7.

Shadow Creek built a 35-0 lead at halftime and then added 28 more points in the third period for their 63 points.

The Sharks defense held Elsik to a minus-32 yards rushing and only 17 passing yards (8-of-16, 2 INTs) to totally dominate the non-district contest to improve their season record to 3-0.

Shadow Creek junior quarterback Kyron Drones continued to showcase his talent as he was 7-of-10 passing with 4 TDs and one INT.

The one interception by Drones was returned for a 44-yard touchdown by Henry Onyechi that gave the Rams their only points of the game.

Other than that one small blemish, Drones also scored on a 14-yard run to go with his four TD passes.

Shadow Creek scored a touchdown in the opening period when Jorge Jones scored on a blocked punt for a 7-0.

Then the flood gate opened in the second quarter as Jayvon Bell scored on a 3-yard run at the 11:55 mark of the period to bump the score to 14-0.

Drones took over the quarter as he hit Seth Jones on a 5-yard scoring toss; a 31-yard strike to Jared Jackson; and then scored on a 14-yard dash making the score 35-0 at intermission.

The Sharks added three more scores to begin the second half as Jones caught another scoring pass covering 43-yards; Bell rammed home a score on a 1-yard plunge; and Trent McGaughey caught a 3-yard scoring toss making the score 56-0 before Elsik scored on the pass interception to cut the margin to 56-7.

Jaiden Stewart returned the favor with no time left in the third quarter when he picked off the Elsik quarterback for a 12-yard score to make the final score 63-7. Placekicker Matt Allison was perfect on the night hitting 9-for-9 PATs.

The No. 2 area-ranked Sharks (3-0) will have an open date this week and then will travel to face No. 5 area-ranked Angleton (2-0) on Friday, September 27 at 7:00 p.m.
