No. 1 area-ranked Shadow Creek downs Angleton 42-14


SHADOW CREEK — The No. 5 area-ranked Angleton Wildcats were no match were no match for No. 1 area-ranked Shadow Creek as the Sharks completely dominated the Wildcats 42-14 in a District 10-5A-I matchup.

The game wasn't even close as the Sharks exploded for 21 first quarter points while the defense shut out the 'Cats in the first half.

Shadow Creek scored a touchdown in the second quarter for a 28-0 lead at intermission.

Quarterback Kyron Drones put the Sharks in the lead on their first possession of the game with a 1-yard keeper for a 7-0 lead with 9:34 left in the opening frame.

Drones then fired two scoring strikes covering 6-yards to Greg Hancock and 34-yards to Carlton Guidry to stretch the lead to 21-0 with 1:36 remaining in the first period.

The Sharks held Angleton scoreless in the next 12 minutes while tacking on a 2-yard scoring run by Kelvon Brown with 3:30 left before intermission.

Angleton continued to struggle in the second half, but finally found the end zone on a Jordan Jones 6-yard run to cut the margin to 28-14.

That score ignited a small flame for the Wildcats as they added another score with 11:09 left in the fourth frame on a 2-yard run by Justus Mayon.

But Shadow Creek quickly put out the light with tow more scores when Jayveon Bell scored on a 2-yard run with 8:19 left in the fourth and then Drones put the nail in the coffin with an 11-yard run with 4:33 left in the game to close out the scoring 42-14.

Drones was 11-for-24 passing for 208 yards and two TDs while rushing for 67 yards on 12 carries and two more scores.

Bell had 70 yards on 15 carries for a TD while Brown had 56 yards on eight carries for one score. vHancock led the receivers with four catches for 86 yards and a TD while Seth Jones caught four passes for 76 yards.

Shadow Creek (4-0, 1-0) will host winless Texas City (0-4, 0-1) on Friday, October 4 at 7:00 p.m. at Freedom Field.
