Shadow Creek stings Alvin 49-13

SHADOW CREEK — The Alvin Yellowjackets have had a good year so far based on their previous seasons, but they were brought back to reality by their district cousin when Shadow Creek took them out 49-13.

The first quarter was fairly competitive as the Sharks led the Jackets 14-7 at the end of the period.

Shadow Creek would strike first when running back Felix Buchanan would score on a 12-yard run to make the score 7-0 with eight minutes to go in the opening period.

Alvin would tie up the game at 7-7 on a rushing touchdown with four minutes left in the period, but the Sharks would strike again when Tylik Burton would score on an 8-yard run to make the score 14-7.

A fumble by Alvin would give the ball back to the Sharks on the Jackets 39-yard line, but Shadow Creek would give the ball back to Alvin on a fumble at their own 41.

Alvin would turn that miscue into a score, but a missed two-point conversion left the Sharks with a 14-13 lead.

It didn't take Shadow Creek long to extend the lead as Dejuan Lewis ran the Alvin kickoff back 95 yards for a crowd-pleasing touchdown and a 21-13 advantage.

With less than a minute before intermission, Shadow Creek would strike again as Joshua Best would score on a 12-yard run to make the halftime score 28-13.

The Sharks would score on their opening possession of the second half as QB Duke Butler hit Caleb Washington on a 31-yard scoring strike to make the score 35-13.

Shadow Creek would score less than a minute later on a 3-yard rushing touchdown by Washington to increase the lead to 42-13.
