Shadow Creek slides past Pearland 41-28

The Sharks took command of the game in the opening quarter with two scoring runs by sophomore running back Triston Willis who ripped off a 65-yard scoring dash to make the score 6-0 following a missed PAT with 7:01 left in the first period.
Shadow Creek added a second score on a 5-yard run by Willis as time expired in the first quarter to make the score 13-0.
Both teams struggled on offense in the second frame until the Sharks added their third score of the game when WR Chris Stewart caught a 12-yard pass from sophomore QB Dante Mayes to bump the score to 20-0 with 4:28 left before intermission.
Pearland finally scored with 1:41 remaining in the first half when RB Tate Chisolm scored on a 1-yard plunge to cut the lead to 20-7 at halftime.
The Oilers fought back at the first of the fourth period as Chisolm score his second touchdown on a 1-yard dive to cut the margin to 27-14 following the PAT by Zane Adler with 9:33 showing on the clock.
Shadow Creek continued to stay comfortably in the lead as RB Alex Kirkland scored on a 4-yard run with 5:23 left in the fourth to bump the lead back to 34-14.
Less than two minutes later, Pearland found paydirt when QB Jake Westmoreland hti Chisolm on a 14-yard scoring toss to bring the Oilers within 34-21 with 3:05 left in the game.
But the Sharks got a 30-yard scoring jaunt from Stewart following the ensuing kickoff to lift the margin up to 41-21 with 2:42 left in the district clash.
With 1:28 remaining in the game, Pearland managed to score on a 17-yard scoring pass from Westmoreland to Cam'Ron Bush to post the 41-28 final score.
The Sharks outgained the Oilers 319 yards to 245 yards.
Mayes was 12-for-15 passing for 111 yards and two TDs.
Willis led the Shadow Creek ground attach with 15 carries for 115 yards and a pair of TDs.
Stewart had seven catches for 71 yards and two scores.
For Pearland, Westmoreland was 6-of-18 for 97 yards and two TDs.
Chisolm had 19 carries for 109 yards and two scores.
Jordan "The Jet" Hernandez had three catches for 36 yards.
The Oilers have a BYE this week and will finish off the regular season at home on Thursday, November 7 vs South Houston. Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m.
