No. 1 Shadow Creek captures 10-5A-I crown

MANVEL SHADOW CREEK — The Shadow Creek Sharks were crowned District 10-5A-I champions for the second consecutive year.

This year, the Sharks were a pre-season second-place pick even though they advanced to the 5A Division I state title game last year to finish 15-1 in their first varsity season.

Foster was picked to win the league title, but the Sharks knocked them off two weeks ago 24-17 to remain undefeated so far this season.

With only one regular season game remaining, it appears that Shadow Creek (9-0, 7-0) will more than likely go undefeated for the second straight season provided they do away with Fort Bend Terry in their final game of the year.

The Sharks took care of business against Fort Bend Hightower in a game that some thought might challenge Shadow Creek. But the Sharks set the stage quickly in the first frame by scoring 24-points while the Hurricanes could manage only a field goal making the first quarter score 24-3.

It was more of the same in the second quarter as the Sharks continued the onslaught with 14 more points for a 38-3 halftime lead.

Shadow Creek put the Hurricanes away in the third with 12 more points to up the lead to 50-3.

Hightower score in the fourth frame to reduce the lead to 50-9, but the Sharks put one more field goal on the board to make the final score 53-9.

Quarterback Kyron Drones was 14-of-23 passing for 181 yards and three touchdowns. He also had 89 yards rushing and two more scores on eight carries.

Jay'veon Bell had 14 totes for 70 yards while Kelvon Brown had four carries for 18 yards and one score.

Greg Hancock was the leading receiver with six catches for 64 yards and two TDs while Randy Masters had three grabs for 20 yards. Carlton Guidry had four catches for 53 yards and one score.

Shadow Creek will host Terry at Freedom Field on Friday, November 8 at 7:00 p.m.
