Shadow Creek closes out regular season with win over Hastings


SHADOW CREEK — The Shadow Creek Sharks closed out the regular season 8-2 overall and 7-0 as District 23-6A champions.

The Sharks shut out Alief Hastings 37-0 and now will prepare for the Class 6A Region III Div. II playoffs when they take on the Clear Creek Wildcats (3-7) on Friday, November 12 at Freedom Field at 7:00 p.m.

Shadow Creek score 13 points in the opening quarter when quarterback Duke Butler his Tylik Burton on a short pass and the speedster turned it into a 76-yard touchdown. The PAT missed the mark for a 6-0 lead.

Later in the quarter, Jacob Washington scored on a 1-yard plunge and Matt Allison booted the PAT to make the score 13-0.

The Sharks continued to control the game as Butler tossed a 12-yard scoring pass to Joqwan West to make the score 20-0.

West closed out the first half scoring with a sensational 70-yard punt return for a touchdown to give the Sharks a 27-0 lead at intermission.

Shadow Creek added a touchdown in the third quarter when Butler and West hooked up again on a 10-yard strike to increase the lead to 34-0.

I'Mauree Davis closed out the scoring for the Sharks with a 24-yard field goal in the final frame to post the 37-0 final score.

Butler had an excellent outing as he was 9-of-14 passing for 166 yards and three TDs.

Washington had six carries for 40 yards and one score while Donte Lewis had six totes for 36 yards.

Burton had one catch for 76 yards and one TD.

The Sharks will host the Clear Creek Wildcats (3-7) on Friday, November 12 at Freedom Field at 7:00 p.m. in a Class 6A Region III Div. II bi-district playoff contest.
