No. 1 Shadow Creek disposes of Port Arthur Memorial 49-7

PEARLAND SHADOW CREEK — The Shadow Creek made an opening statement in the Class 5A Region III Div. I bi-district contest that they are the team that should be favored to return to the state finals.

However, the Sharks are focused on playing one game at a time and they are presently 11-0.

"We have to stay focused," Shadow Creek head coach Brad Butler said. "No one is going to lay down for us. We must take each game and each opponent one at a time and the journey will take care of itself."

That's exactly how Shadow Creek handled Port Arthur in the first game of the post-season.

The Sharks opened up the first quarter with a 1-yard scoring run by quarterback Kyron Drones for a 7-0 lead.

The second period set the tone for the rest of the game as the Sharks scored three more times.

Drones hit Kelvon Brown for a 25-yard scoring pass to make the score 14-0.

Drones increased the lead to 21-0 when he fired a 31-yard scoring strike to Randy Masters to increase the lead to 28-0.

Shadow Creek scored one touchdown in the third period when the game was in well command as Drones hit Seth Jones for a 23-yard scoring pass making the score 42-0.

In the final period, the Sharks blocked a punt by Jorge Jones that was recovered in the end zone for a touchdown and Drones capped the scoring with a 12-yard rushing touchdown.

PA Memorial managed one score to make the final 49-7.
