Shadow Creek slips past Hightower 28-12


SHADOW CREEK — It is that time of the year are there are some teams that are on the bubble to advance to the playoffs. Hightower is one of those teams and they knew their chances to advance would be enhanced if they beat league-leading Shadow Creek.

The first half was much closer that the Sharks expected as the they only led 7-6 at intermission.

After a scoreless first quarter by both teams, with seven minutes left in the second period Shadow Marquez Huland scored on a 7-yard run. Greg Ezechukwu booted the PAT making the score 7-0.

Hightower answered with a score of their own, but missed the PAT leaving the Sharks clinging to a 7-6 lead at the intermission.

Shadow Creek came out strong in the third quarter to take control of the game as they scored on their first possession of the second half when quarterback Jamarian George hit Ashton O'Connor on a 12-yard scoring pass. The PAT was good and the Sharks were up 14-6.

With six minutes to go in the third quarter, the Sharks scored again when George got loose on a back-breaking 75-yard scoring jaunt to make the score 21-6.

Early in the fourth quarter, Shadow Creek struck again when George hit Kealon Jackson on a 30-yard scoring strike making the score 28-6.

Hightower answered with a touchdown, but the two-point conversion was no good leaving the score 28-12 which stood till the final buzzer.

George was 13-of-20 passing for 159 yards and two TDs while rushing 122 yards on 12 totes and another score.

Huland had 36 yards on the ground on 17 carries and one score.

Jackson caught six passes for 100 yards and a TD.

Shadow Creek will travel to Traylor Stadium on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. to face Rosenberg Terry in the final game of the regular season. Terry failed to make the post-season.
