Dawson sweeps FB Dulles in opening round of the playoffs
May 6, 2025
The Eagles won the first game of the series 2-0 as both teams struggled to score. The game was scoreless through the first five innings before the Eagles finally score two runs in the bottom of the sixth frame for a 2-0 lead.
Dawson pitcher Garritt Romero gave up a two-out single to the Vikings in the top of the seventh before the righthander got the third out on a line drive to third baseman Jack Dyment to close out the game.
The two run by Dawson were delivered in the sixth inning when Maddox Botas and Dyment each drew walks. After both runners stole third and second, Mason Walls delivered a sacrifice fly to send Botas across the pay station for a 1-0 lead.
Romero helped his own cause with a single to centerfield to plate Dyment to make the score 2-0 and that would be all the Eagles would need to win the first game of the series.
Romero improved his pitching record to 7-1 after he allowed the Vikings only two hits while striking out four batters.
Dawson 5 - FB Dulles 0
Dawson pitcher Preston Lima pitched a no-hit, shut out against the FB Dulles Vikings to give the Eagles a 5-0 playoff win in a two-game sweep. Lima stuck out three and walked two to get the win from the pitching mound.
The Eagles scored in all of the odd innings getting a run in the first, one in the third, two in the fifth, and one in the seventh for the 5-0 win.
The leading hitter for Dawson was Jack Dyment who drove in a run in the first and one in the third as he was 3-for-4 with two RBIs including a double.
Brandon Gutierrez was 2-for-2 at the plate while Garritt Romero was 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.
