Lady Eagles sweep Lady Tigers in volleyball playoffs

The Dawson Lady Eagles were crowned the District 22-6A champions and won their first playoff match against the Fort Bend Travis Lady Tigers 3-0. Dawson is one of Top10 teams in Class 6A.

It's playoff time, and Dawson had no trouble coming through when it counted in the first round of the Class 6A Region III bi-district round in the volleyball playoffs.

Everything went their way against the Fort Bend Travis Lady Tigers as they swept the best-of-five series with a 3-0 win. The victory was familiar territory for the Lady Eagles, who have now won 18 matches in a row.

Dawson won the first game 25-16 which would be the closest game out of the three. The Lady Eagles then took command in the second game 25-12 and then closed out the match 25-9 to send the Lady Tigers home to end their season.

Sloane Ranney paced Dawson's offense, picking up nine kills. Ranney got some help from Taylor Ranney who had 16 assists. Jenna Thedford added 23 digs while Julia Wright had seven blocks.

Dawson's win bumped their record up to 38-4. As for Fort Bend Travis, the loss snapped their winning streak at five matches and leaves them with a 22-19 record.
