DAWSON — The Dawson Lady Eagles, under the guidance of head coach Lauren Leth, captured the District 23-6A championship and had one of the schools greatest seasons climbing as high as the No. 2 state-ranked volleyball team.

Dawson was 12-0 in district and finished 41-5 overall while advancing to the Class 6A Region III semifinals before being eliminated by the Ridge Point Panthers who fell in the 6A state semifinals to Keller.

Leth won her 300th career game during Dawson's successful season and the Lady Eagles have won 40-plus games the last three our of four years. The 2020 season produced a 22-4 mark during the year of COVID.

Dawson has posted a 46-2 record the last four years and has a 39-game district win streak.

Leth was named the District 23-6A "Coach of the Year" for the 2021 season and provides great leadership to the volleyball program as well as serving as a great role model.

Dawson's Kamryn Scroggins was name the district's "Most Valuable Player" to cap a four-year varsity career which was highlighted with numerous individual and team accomplishments.

Scroggins holds the school record for assists and aces and helped lead the Lady Eagles to the fourth consecutive Region III-6A tournament.

Coach Leth said in a recent interview, "I don't know what Dawson volleyball will look like without her. She's a great student in the classroom and a student of the game.

"She comes up with drill ideas. She's a student of everything she does. I'll miss next year and a void we'll have to fill."

Scroggins will continue her education and playing career at the University of New Orleans.

Scroggins had 110 kills, 53 aces, six blocks, 404 digs, and 1,204 assists this season.

"Offensive Player of the Year" was Dawson senior Kylie Nance who 395 kills, 68 aces, 33 blocks, 367 digs and 32 assists.

"Defensive Co-Player of the Year" was Dawson senior Alana Torres who had 25 aces, 326 digs, and 110 assists.

"Defensive Co-Player of the Year" was Pearland senior Aryelle Stevens who had 109 blocks and 57 digs.

"Co-Setter of the Year" was Pearland senior Jenna Gray who 35 kills, 43 aces, 292 digs, and 629 assists.

Named to the All-District first-team for Dawson was senior Sydney Alexander, senior Patience Lewis, and junior Bryce Ranney.

Named to the All-District second-team for Dawson was junior Ava Kennon and junior Carter Galley.

Named to the All-District first-team for Pearland was senior Jordan Maeker, freshman Maddie Dement, and senior Ava Scott.

Named to the All-District second-team for Pearland was junior Madelyn Whitehead, senior Avery Schwartz, and freshman Kimanni Rugley.
