Friendswood girls finish 5th; boys 14th at state swim meet

This year, Friendswood had another strong showing as the Lady Mustangs place fifth and the boys placed 14th.
For the girls -- Boerne Champion captured the team state title with 176 points followed closely by Frisco Reedy (173), Prosper Walnut Grove (163), Cedar Park (136) and Friendswood (132).
For the boys -- Frisco Wakeland won the team title with 153.5 points followed by Prosper Walnut Grove (152), Georgetown (144), College Station A&M Consolidated (128.5), and Fort Bend Kempner (123).
The boys scored 41 points which placed them 14th in the state.
The 13 Mustang swimmers and 1 diver who competed were: Olivia Esbeck, Edi Jakob, Andi Jeanes, Carmen Laurito, KK LeBlanc, Paige McCray, Lauren Tillman, Taylor Welch, Nick Hardt, Nate Henderson, Simon Kinsworthy, Caleb Livesay, Jovan Stojkovski, and Grayson Wells.
The star of the state meet was Friendswood KK LeBlanc who was named 5A State Girls Athlete of the Meet as she defended her 100 and 200 freestyle state gold medals she won last year at the state swim meet.
This year, LeBlanc not only captured gold again, but she also broke a six-year-old Class 5A record in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:46.32 -- breaking the old mark of 1:46.39 in 2019.
LeBlanc teamed up with Paige McCray, Andelynn Jeanes, and Lauren Tillman to win gold in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The 1:35.81 time also set a new FHS record breaking the old nine-year mark.
The foursome of Paige McCray, Lauren Tillman, Andi Jeanes, and KK LeBlanc also finished second in the 400-yard freestyle relay for the silver medal.
LeBlanc return home to Friendswood with three gold and one silver medals.

Girls 100 Free – 48.99, KK LeBlanc
Girls 50 Free (relay lead off) – 22.70, KK LeBlanc
Girls 200 Free Relay – 1:35.81– KK LeBlanc, Paige McCray, Andi Jeanes, and Lauren Tillman
