Former Friendswood head coach Van Meter reaches milestone

FRIENDSWOOD — Former Friendswood head coach Steve Van Meter roamed the sidelines for almost 30 years as an assistant and head coach for the Mustangs.

In 2012, Van Meter left the Mustangs for a couple of years before becoming the head coach and athletic director for the Hutton Hippos where he saw great success. Now, coach Van is the head coach for the Pflugerville Weiss Wolves.

His coaching record at Friendswood (1992-2011) was 148 wins ad 80 losses. Under Van Meter's leadership included two state semifinal and two state quarterfinal appearances.

This past Friday, Van Meter's team at Pflugerville Weiss beat New Braunfels 49-42 for his 200th career victory. We congratulate coach Van Meter on such a monumental accomplishment.
