February 17, 2025
Adams has led the Lady O's to the district title three out of four years and has compiled a 126-27 won-loss record while at the helm of the Pearland girls basketball program.
While Pearland lost in the 6A Region III-Div I area round to Summer Creek, the Lady Oilers beat state powers DeSoto and Summer Creek during the regular season to finish 29-8.
Pearland 47 - Ridge Point 32
Pearland faced Ridge Point in the opening round of the 6A Region III-DI playoffs and it would be the Lady Panthers who would take charge of the game early as they built a 14-11 lead at the end of the opening quarter.
The Lady Oilers turned the tables in the second quarter as they outscored the Lady Panthers 9-6 to tie the game at intermission 20-20.
Not sure what head coach Jere' Adams said to her girls at halftime but it sure worked as the Lady Oilers came out in the third quarter firing on all cylinders as they scorched the Lady Panthers 19-4 for a 39-24 advantage entering the final period.
Both teams closed out the last eight minutes with eight points each to post the 47-32 final score in favor of the Lady Oilers.
Sr Eliece Perry paced the scoring for Pearland with 19 points and 17 rebounds while Soph Shilo Grays had 13 points, eight boards, two assists, and five steals.
Summer Creek 51 - Pearland 34
Pearland and Summer Creek are no strangers to each other as the Lady Bulldogs beat the Lady Oilers in the region finals 59-42 in 2022 while the Lady Oilers returned the favor 39-26 in 2023 to win the Region III crown and advance to the state basketball tournament.
The Lady Oilers faced the Lady Bulldogs this past season in November and came away with a 47-38 win.
Unfortunately for Pearland in the 6A Region III area round, the Lady Bulldogs prevailed 51-34 to eliminate the Lady Oilers from the post-season which is the earliest that Pearland has been eliminated under head coach Jere' Adams.
Summer Creek took control of the game early leaving Pearland in an early hole as the Lady Bulldogs led 13-5 after the opening quarter. They took the second frame 16-7 for a 29-12 lead at intermission.
The Lady Oilers attempted to battle back in the third quarter 11-7 to cut the deficit to 36-23 entering the final period but the Lady Bulldogs took control down the stretch to close out Pearland 15-11 in the final eight minutes to post the 51-34 final score.
Pearland closes out the season with a 29-8 record while finishing second in District 22-6A at 14-2 behind league champion Dawson at 16-0.
