6A REGION III DIV I CHAMPIONS

The 2026 Pearland Lady Oilers shut out the Cy-Fair Lady Bobcats 8-0 to capture the 6A Region III Div I title and to punch their ticket to the 6A Div I state semifinals.

With two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, Pearland pitcher Madelyn Guzman had given up no hits and no runs to the Cy-Fair Lady Bobcats in the Class 6A Region III Div I finals with the Lady Oilers leading 8-0.

Cy-Fair catcher Amelia Tarr stroked a single to right field keep Guzman from tossing her second no-hitter in the playoffs, but it didn't make any difference as the Lady Oilers captured the 6A Region III Div I title to advance to the 6A Div I state semifinals.

Guzman closed out Cy-Fair with one hit, one walk, and 11 strikeouts while the Lady Oilers scored eight runs on 10 hits to improve to 35-5 as the No. 1 6A state-ranked team.

Pearland opened the scoring in the first frame when catcher Payton Shugart smacked a two-run double bringing home Anison Lopez and Layla Bennett who had reached base on back-to-back singles for an early 2-0 lead.

The Lady Oilers added three more runs in the top of the second to push the lead to 5-0 while Guzman established control from the pitching circle.

In the second inning, Shugart was struck by a pitch with the bases loaded that allowed one run and Payton Powell singled to score two more runs for the 5-0 advantage.

The game would settle down over the next three innings until the top of the sixth inning when the Lady Oilers would score three more insurance runs for a comfortable 8-0 lead and the win.

Leading hitters for Pearland included Lopez (2-for-5, 3 runs), Bennett (2-for-4, 3 runs, 1 RBI), Shugart (1-for-2, 3 RBIs, 2B), Powell (2-for-3, 2 RBIs), and Kendall Hartnett (1-for-2, 1 run).
