Friendswood 3, Pearland Dawson 2
Scheduling one of the area’s toughest teams for their bye week, the Friendswood Lady Mustangs emerged victorious in a thrilling 20-25, 25-17, 25-22, 14-25, 15-10 win over the Pearland Dawson Lady Eagles at home.
Turning in top showings for the Lady Mustangs were Sydney Gibson (10 kills, 10 digs), Nadi’Ya Shelby (eight kills, three blocks), Kaitlyn Gotsch (eight kills, eight blocks), Cierra Pesak (25 digs) and Caroline Adams (23 assists, 16 digs).
Friendswood 3, Angleton 1
The Friendswood Lady Mustangs overcame a slow start to close out their road match against Angleton in dominant fashion for an 18-25, 25-7, 25-11, 25-13 win.
Top performers for the Lady Mustangs were Nadi’Ya Shelby (16 kills, four blocks), Kaitlyn Gotsch (10 kills, eight blocks), Cierra Pesak (10 assists, five aces), Sydney Gibson (15 digs), Caroline Adams (23 assists, 11 digs), Meghan Donoughue (17 assists) and Andi Vaught (10 digs).
Pearland 3 - Alief Elsik 0
Pearland improved to 2-0 in district with a sweep of the Alief Elsik Lady Rams 25-14, 25-10, 25-18.
Leading the way for the Lady Oilers included Madie Whitehead (6 digs, 8 kills), Kimanni Rugley (8 kills), Cora Wolford (27 assists), and Emily Brock (8 assists).
Pearland 3 - Alvin 1
Pearland defeated the Alvin Lady Yellowjackets 25-13, 22-25, 25-19, 25-13 in a hard-fought match to improve to 3-0 in District 23-6A action. The Lady Oilers improve to 22-12 overall for the season.
Leading the way to victory included Cora Wolford (45 assists, 11 digs), Avery Koonsen (8 kills, 9 digs), Madie Whitehead (22 kills), and Kimanni Rugley (14 kills).
