Pearland roundballers win Gulf Coast Classic Tournament

The Pearland Oilers won the Austin Maroon Basketball Tournament in November, and they have followed that up with another tournament win as they won the Barbers Hill Gulf Coast Classic Tournament to improve to 12-1 this season.

Pearland opened the tournament with a hard-fought 43-39 win over Klein Oak. The Oilers faced a second game varsity opponent resulting in a 71-44 victory.

The Oilers went on to take out Ridge Point (70-52), Alief Taylor (58-46), and wrapped up the tournament title with a win over host Barbers Hill 56-44.

Head coach Delrick Brown also saw his hard-court warriors crush the Sam Rayburn Texans 62-22 in the District 22-6A opener to give the Oilers a 1-0 start in league action.
