SHADOW CREEK — Shadow Creek and Dawson were picked to compete for the District 23-6A crown at the beginning of this season with the Sharks being the favorite to win the title.
Shadow Creek won their league opener with a 55-42 victory over Alief Taylor while the Eagles were playing their first district contest.
The game began with Dawson taking early control for a 9-2 lead.
But the Sharks didn't panic as they took advantage of multiple missed shots and turnovers by the Eagles to see the game turn in their favor late in the first quarter.
Unfortunately for Dawson, the Sharks took over on offense and went on a 14-0 run to end the opening frame for a 16-9 advantage.
The scoring drought continued for the Eagles as they managed only six points in the second quarter while Shadow Creek added twenty more points for a 36-15 halftime lead.
