Shadow Creek crushes Pearland 82-41 in district showdown

The Shadow Creek roundballers took charge early over the Pearland Oilers and came away with a dominating 82-41 district win to improve to 21-2 and 8-0 in league action. The Sharks disposed of South Houston Trojans 81-65 and the Sam Rayburn Texans 85-50 following their showdown with the Oilers (7-1) who suffered their first district loss to the Sharks.

Pearland suffered an embarrassing first half as Shadow Creek jumped on the Oilers offensively scoring 26 first quarter points while the Oilers could manage only three free throws and no field goals.

Michael Collins set the pace for the Sharks as he drained a 3-pointer, two field goals, and was 4-for-4 from the charity stripe for a total of 11 points. He would finish the game with a team-high 23 points.

The Sharks hit a total of five treys in their lopsided first period over the Oilers 26-3.

It didn't get any better for Pearland in the second frame as they managed only a pair of field goals while the Sharks cooled down to score 15 points to take a 41-9 lead at intermission.

Shadow Creek's Aiden Lewis had the hot scoring hand in the second quarter with seven points.

The game got much more competitive in the third quarter as the Sharks barely nipped the Oilers 20-19 thanks to Byron Bibbs who poured in 16 points for the Oilers which also included four 3-pointers and a pair of baskets.

Collins answered the bell for Shadow Creek with nine points while the Sharks added three more treys as a team to lead 61-28 entering the final period.

Bibbs kept Pearland in the game with three more 3-pointers and a short jumper to lead the Oilers with 30 of their 41 points.

Shadow Creek continued to score with consistency as they added 21 more points in the final frame to post the 82-41 final score.

Jackson closed out the period with 11 points to finish the game with 21 points.

Others who contributed offensively for the Sharks included Julian Cullier (12 points), Aiden Law (11 points), and Lewis (10 points).
