Shadow Creek girls edge Hastings 38-26

Shadow Creek improved to 19-12 overall and 6-3 in league action which places them in second place behind league-leading Pearland (9-0). Hastings is now 21-9 overall and 6-4 in district which puts them in third place and secures their place in the playoffs.
Neither team was effective on offense as Shadow Creek took the opening period 9-8 as five Lady Sharks scored a field goal with Peyton Holmes hitting a 3-pointer.
Junior guard Melinda Winston had the hot hand for the Lady Bears as she scored seven of the eight points.
The second quarter proved to be just as ineffective as Shadow Creek scored only one field goal while hitting 5-of-9 free throws for seven points.
Hastings managed to hit only 3-of-4 free throws for three points giving the Lady Sharks a 16-11 lead at intermission.
Hastings closed the gap in the third quarter 9-8 making the score 24-20.
The offense for Shadow Creek got better in the final period as the Lady Sharks closed out the contest 14-6 to post the 38-26 final score.
Shadow Creek was 6-of-16 from the free throw line while hitting four baskets.
Winston closed out the game for Hastings with a pair of 3-pointers to give her a team-high 13 points.
Kameryn Phillips led the Lady Sharks on offense with a game-high 14 points. Phillips was 6-of-9 from the charity stripe.
Shadow Creek was only 11-for-30 from the free throw line.
