Shadow Creek boys advance to region finals

The No. 5 state-ranked Shadow Creek Sharks (32-2) took care of business with a 57-47 win over George Ranch to advance to the Class 6A Region III Div. II finals to face the No. 10 state-ranked Katy Jordan Warriors (33-3) on Friday, February 28 at 7:30 p.m. at Delmar Field House.

The Sharks are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 16 straight games. Shadow Creek's win bumped their record up to 32-2.

As for George Ranch, they moved to 23-13 which also ended their six-game winning streak.

The Sharks were a strong favorite to win this game but the Longhorns proved to be a formidable foe for the first three quarters.

Shadow Creek built a first frame lead 17-14 behind the scoring of Bryce Jackson who tallied 12 points to pace the Sharks' scoring.

However, Shadow Creek could manage only seven points in the second period while George Ranch scored 11 to take a 25-24 lead at intermission.

The second half belonged to the Sharks as they outscored the Longhorns 15-10 in the third as Michael Collins led the way with nine points for a 39-34 lead moving into the final period.

The Sharks closed out the game with 18 points while holding the Longhorns to 10 to post the 57-47 final score.

Collings was the game-high scorer with 20 points while Jackson scored 16 for the Sharks.
