PEARLAND — There is an old saying, "What goes around comes around." Such is the case when just a year ago, Ball High was blowing everyone out of the gym with their high-flying offense while other teams fell victim to the Tors.
Just a year later and Ball High is struggling to get a win in district play. However, there was no sympathy found from the Dawson Eagles when they invaded the Ball High gym and returned home with a humiliating 106-56 win leave the Tors still winless at 0-4 in league play.
Meanwhile, Dawson, who remains perfect at 6-0 and 14-1 on the season completely dominated on both sides of the ball.
Dawson had four players in double digits as Dakarai Henderson led the way with 26 points followed by Jarried Littleton (20), Tony Upchurch and Nick Bennett with 14 each.
Dawson exploded for 30 points in the opening eight minutes while Ball High struggled to put in 11. The game got a little tighter in the second quarter with Dawson edging the Tors 21-19 for a 51-30 halftime advantage.
The Eagles picked up the pace in the second half to outscore Ball High 37-14 in the third for a lopsided 88-44 lead entering the final eight minutes of play.
Dawson closed out the game 18-12 to post the 106-56 final score.
Ball High advanced to the 4A Region III finals last season before falling to La Marque, who is also having a very difficult season.
Dawson played La Marque on Tuesday (late) and then will host Santa Fe on Friday, Jan. 13 at 7:30 p.m. Dawson will travel to face Manvel on Tuesday, Jan. 17 in a game that could see both teams still undefeated in district with the winner taking sole possession of the league lead.
