El Campo threatened in the final frame when Wood walked one batter and hit another. With runners at first and second and two out, the runner at second attempted to steal third, but Friendswood catcher Nick Treybig fired a missle to third to gun down the runner and end the game.

Foster ends season for Lady Mustangs

"Foster is an outstanding team, and any team that plays Foster has to play a “very good ballgame in order to beat them,” Friendswood head coach Kevin Parr said. “I think we gave them a run for the money. I know I’m proud of (my players), and they can walk with their heads high.”

Regional Track Standout Performances

Several area tracksters had outstanding performances at the 4A Region III track meet that will send them to the state meet in Austin on May 11-12.

If Only

One of the things I like to do most is knowing when I am in an "If only" moment. When you are very young, life happens to you and you just forge your way through. With age comes the ability to know when you are in an "If only" moment and savoring the time and knowing that you are savoring it.

Lady Oilers split with Clear Creek and Brazoswood

Pearland beat Clear Creek 4-3, but it took nine innings. The win came despite some pretty foolish base running and batting, particularly the inability to lay down sacrificial bunts.

Santa Fe nips Mustangs 2-1

Friendswood is currently 9-9 on the season and 3-4 in district which puts them in the lower half of the district standings and in danger of not making the post-season if they don't get things turned around.

Lady Mustangs fall to Ridge Point

After the first round of district action, the Lady Mustangs are 10-9 overall and 3-5 in district which places them tied for sixth place. They are one game behind fourth place and two games out of third. The outcome of every game is crucial from here on out.

Pearland rolls past defending state champion

Brazoswood rolled into Pearland as the defending 2011 Class 5A state baseball champion, but returned home after the Oilers dismantled the Buccaneers for a 9-0 thrashing.

Friendswood sweeps soccer titles

The Friendswood girls clinched the 43-4A title and now look forward to achieving their next goal of claiming the 4A Region III championship that will send the Lady Mustangs to another appearance at the state soccer tournament.

Dawson lady tracksters win again

Oilers knock off No. 1 team in the nation

No one believed that Pearland could knock off the nation's No. 1 team and defending Class 5A Division I state champion Euless Trinity. The pre-game predictions were that Pearland had no chance and would get steamrolled by the much larger players from Euless.
