FRIENDSWOOD — The game between Santa Fe and Friendswood wasn't pretty against these neighboring teams with errors affecting both teams.
With the game scoreless after two frames, Santa Fe finally scored on an unearned run. A lead-off walk and two Mustang errors contributed to the 1-0 Santa Fe lead.
In the fifth frame, Friendswood committed another miscue that put a Santa Fe runner on base. A single put runners on first and second with no outs. The next batter for Santa Fe hit a line shot that was snagged by the Friendswood first baseman and he was able to beat the runner back to the bag in what appeared to be a double play.
But to the uproar of the Friendswood fans, the runner was ruled safe and an appeal to the plate umpire didn't change the call.
The next Santa Fe hitter went down on strikes for the second out, but the next hitter slapped a single to right that scored another run for the Indians to make the score 2-0.
In the top of the sixth inning, Johnnie LeBlanc got a hit to right that was misplayed by the Santa Fe outfielder. A throwing error on a fielder's choice by Heisyan Forero sent LeBlanc to third. Brent Janak hit a slow grounder to the shortstop that allowed LeBlanc to score Friendswood's only run of the game.
Jordan, who got the loss, had another good outing on the mound as he pitched four innings and allowed no earned runs while striking out eight Indians. He allowed only five hits and walked two.
Jayson McKinley stepped in relief for the last two innings and struck out four and allowed only one hit.
Dylan Ebbs tossed a complete game for the Indians surrendering only two its while fanning seven and walking only one.
Friendswood's only hits came on a double by T.J. Scott and a double by Jairus Alexander.
Friendswood is currently 9-9 on the season and 3-4 in district which puts them in the lower half of the district standings and in danger of not making the post-season if they don't get things turned around.
The Mustangs will host Ridge Point on Friday, March 30 at 7:00 p.m.
