Clear Creek jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning and then it was all Pearland the rest of the way. The Lady O's beat the Lady Wildcats by the same identical 6-2 score in the first game.
The Lady Oilers won the state title in 1996 -- so it has been a long time since their last visit to the state tourney.
Jessica Bowden pitched the last four innings after taking over for starter Brooke DuBois.
Along with striking out five Wildcat batters, Bowden went 4-for-4 hitting and scored three runs in Pearland’s 6-2 victory over the Wildcats at UH to sweep the series and advance to the state tournament next weekend in Austin.
Lauren Langer hit a single, then stole second. She made it home on a Clear Creek fielding error to put Pearland on the board.
In the sixth inning, which was highlight after highlight for the Oilers, Bowden started off with a single, followed by a single from Megan Marcet.
Kimberlee Rychlik then advanced both runners with a sacrifice bunt, setting up RBI singles from Jaclyn Bechtle and Chelsea Bennet to give Pearland a 3-2 lead.
