Pearland knocks off Clear Creek
The Pearland Lady Oilers upset highly ranked Clear Creek. The Lady Oilers won a hard fought five game match 25-20, 25-21, 20-25, 13-25, 15-11.
The Lady Oilers were led by junior Malorie Pardo with 25 kills and 29 assists, and seven aces. Senior Marissa Collins added 14 kills, 32 assists, and four aces.
Leading the way on defense was sophomore Kaylie Young with 22 digs followed by Senior, Carlee Lacey with 15 digs. The Lady Oilers travel to Dickinson to play in their varsity tournament on September 10-12.
Dawson splits two matches
The Dawson Lady Eagles faced the 5A Dobie Lady Longhorns and . swept the match 3-0 with the scores 25-18, 25-16, 25-22.
Camryn Kazmierski had 12 kills for Dawson while Katie Haynie had 22 assists.
Dawson faced one of the top 5A schools in the area in Deer Park. The Lady Deer defeated the Lady Eagles, but not without a hard fight. Deer Park won the match 25-13, 25-23, 22-25, 25-19.
Rianne Brink had nine kills for Dawson with Katie Haynie chipping in 20 assists.
"We played a great defensive game overall," said head coach Lori McLaughlin. "We moved the ball around a lot, and gave a lot of our hitters an opportunity to step up and contribute offensively."
Friendswood sweeps Dobie
The Lady Mustangs rolled past Dobie in straight sets, 25-16, 25-16, 25-11.
Jasmine Casey and Sarrah Woolley each had eight kills, while Amy Mitchem added six blocks.
Siobahn O’Neill contributed 22 assists and four aces for Friendswood (16-5). Casey also led the Lady Mustangs in digs with 13.
